Flyer:
- You must be one of the smallest girls on your squad. ( Dont take it personaly, but it would be much easier for the bases to lift you)
- You must stay very TIGHT!!
- If you are trying out for an experienced team I would suggest that you don't try out to be a flyer unless you are experienced, or it comes naturally. Being a flyer is a difficult job!
- You must be prepared to hit the ground. If you are afraid of heights don't even try to be a flyer because it can be pretty scary.
Base:
- You shouldn't have any wrist problems. If you do either dont base or get a brace.
- Bases get the full impact when they cradle the flyer, and they get hit in the nose and face a lot, so you need to be one tough cookie!
- There are two kinds of bases: A main base and a Side Base. I know you are probably thinking that's pretty weird because they both are on the side holding each person weight evenly, but there is a difference. Usually the main base is shorter, so when you go to do a one legged stunt the main base gets all the weight and the other base hold the ankle. It will be eaiser for the side base to hold the ankle because, she/he is taller.
Back:
- You must be pretty tall.( this spot considers height because if the bases were taller than the back the flyer would fall and her legs would hit first causing the flyer to feel awkwards when she lands.
- You also must be always paying attention because if the flyer falls everyone is counting on YOU to catch her.
Front:
- Not all teams have a front ( spotter), but they come in handy when you don't want her legs or feet to hit the ground on a twist-cradle or cradle. The judges do take off points.
- Almost anyone can be a spotter, you are also the person who helps push up on the bases wrists when the flyer is craddling.
